Gudauri and Bakuriani will host the 2023 World Championship in Freestyle Skiing and Snowboarding. The decision was made by the International Ski Federation (FIS) at a convention in Greece.

Georgia’s goal – to host the 2023 World Cup, Prime Minister Giorgi Kvirikashvili briefed Jan Franco Casper, President of the International Ski Federation, at a meeting in St. Moritz last February.

Giorgi Kvirikashvili provided detailed information on the steps undertaken by the Government of Georgia towards the development of mountain resorts and winter sports, including the ongoing and ongoing large-scale infrastructure projects and investments.

In April 2017, the Georgian Ski Federation officially announced its bid to host the World Cup, after which the head of government hosted the Secretary General of the International Ski Federation (FIS) Sarah Lewis and his accompanying delegation to Georgia.

Joseph Fitzgerald, FIS expert ski coordinator in Freestyle, with the members of the delegation, explored the country’s mining potential and opportunities on the spot; The steps taken by the Georgian government to develop mountain resorts and winter sports have been praised by the International Ski Federation.
